It's fiction, using a webpage and a blog as a medium.

ok so there's this videotape going around, and 7 days after you watch it you die. and it looks like a music video from Tool. so like this smart lady, a reporter or something, sees the video and so she's trying to solve the mystery so she doesn't die, but her friend accidentally dies. and then her son sees the movie so she's like "OMG." and then a lot of the shit she sees in the movie turns out to be real

so anyway, she finds the body of the dead little girl whose ghost is making the movie, and brings her up from the well, and then her son who is a little psychic, says "You weren't supposed to help her." and scary music plays, and it turns out the only way to not die from the movie is to make a copy of the tape.

oh yeah, and some scary shit happens.
