Charles Buckman suffered a concussion and facial cuts in the incident, which happened at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway at about 2 p.m., 6Sports reported.
Patrick was driving on pit lane when she struck Buckman, who is not a member of Patrick's team and was trying to examine another car in the pit area, 6Sports reported.
The impact threw Buckman into the air, and he struck his head on the ground, 6Sports' Kip Lewis reported.
Buckman's condition wasn't immediately released, but it is believed he will be OK, 6Sports reported.
