choppy performance in TV

P4 3.0c
2gig corsair dual chan DDR
gigabyte 8knxp (i875p)
Audigy 2
6800gt (drivers are 61.77)
dual WD Raptors (raid 0)

problem:

i average around 50-80fps @ 1024x768 everything set to ultra high... which is fine and dandy, but the game play is choppy/jerky. It feels as if I am lagging, but I actually have a 50-90 ping...

ive used riva tuner and set the bumping settings and everything, but still have the jerky/choppy feel to the game, its not map or number of players dependant...

any ideas?

Mine did the same until I turned off ZoneAlarm... dunno why but it smoothed everything out.

Your problem is too much ram. Send me one stick and it should work fine.

I had the same with my 6800GT. The 61.77 driver is bad for T:V! Try the newest 66.81 WHQL (only WHQL for 6800-series) Download them at www.guru3d.com. Also change 'cachesizemegs' to 256 in your tv_cd_dvd.ini.

Any other programs running in the background? Cleaned your computer of viruses and spyware? Defragged the HD(s)? Latest sound/video drivers? Turned off any unnecessary services?

I just got rid of McAfee and my frames jumped ~10fps.

no other programs, fresh install no viruses or spyware, defrag daily
