[Cancer] I have a mole on my neck

I noticed it a couple of years ago, it popped up out of nowhere. It started out as a dark freckle, but now it has started to protrude from the skin slightly and has a more "moley" texture. Should I go to the doctor and have him take a look at my new friend or just cut it off with a swiss army knife and eat it?

BTW I've had 3 or more moderate sunburns as a child, am ghostly pale, and the last 8 deaths in my family were from melanoma, if that makes any difference.

It doesn't hurt and it's perfectly round, although it's kinda rough like dry skin.
