Boston drone maker releases surveillance UAV that can fly forever

right. so why us something that's constantly drawing power to 6 rotors that themselves have a very finite number of rotations before failure or required service? what is the advantage here?

I have a feeling the rotors last slightly longer than the usual battery life.

OP making a title that says 'forever' is derp
article says 'indefinitely' or 'for a very long time' which is going to be based on service intervals and weather conditions.

Still a lot longer than battery time.

You could use these tethered at car racing, sports events, fishing, surfing, KKK rallies, music festivals, horse races all sorts of stuff that you cant use normal battery drones for.

"unlimited" means until a component fails, which it will inevitably do....the components are most certainly not designed or rated to run "forever"

alarmism at its finest
