i remember dialing in from my uc davis dorm in 92 or 93 to get the 4 dune disks. i had to do it over 4 days, 1.4M per day. i had a newfangled 14.4 modem, so i was the envy of the dorm.

after downloading and playing dune (or was it dune II ?) i was totally hooked.
