9800xt vs 6800 bfg oc (tech help)

I mostly play tf2 right now and I am using the 6800 gt. I was wondering if the 9800 xt would give me a little better performance. thanks for any advice in advance.
 
the 6800gt blows the 9800xt out of the water, its 1.5 gen above it. I would know. I had the 9800xt then i got the 6800gt.

Both cards are about the same speed.

A newer card will give you better eye candy, along with more speed.

well, if he gets the 6800 for cheap cheap then that might make for sense.

and no, both cards arenth the same speed. the 6800 is a whole level above the 9800xt
 
9800xt is ok, but 6800gt is better, also its sm 3.0 code path. So besides the poorer performance you are not going to be able to run some games at all.
 
Sorry I should have said the 9800xt is lying around collecting dust.
My specs until I get a new one in a few months are ,

athlon 2600+ oc'ed to 3000+ or 2300 mhz
bfg 6800 gt oc'ed
1.5 gigs

I run tf2 medium setting sometimes sluggish. I'm thinking of getting a cheap motherboard for the athlon 64 3200+ thats also collecting dust. Not sure if that would make any difference. what do you guys think?
 
ur ram and card are just fine for TF2. your cpu could use some work. Why arent u using the 3200+? You say that you OC ur 2600+ to the level of a 3000+, that is still below the 3200+.
