20 years ago today, the very first SMS text message was sent. It was December 3, 1992 when Neil Papworth, a 22 year old engineer sent the world's first short message service or SMS from a personal computer to the phone of Richard Jarvis. It read "Merry Christmas."

God I hate SMS. I remember going to the US from 1999 till 2002, when I came back ALL the TV shows etc. had some kind of voting via SMS. I was a nice and pure money grab. I am glad it's near dead now.
