Did it ever occur to (crazy) people that the building may have been collapsing on the inside already... causing windows to shatter and things to explode? If windows were popping like that(maybe even because of the warping shape of the building as it collapsed).. a brief flash of reflected light would cause that sort of effect I would think.
Also, who blows a building by putting random explosions... on random floors... in random spots.
