[Mega] MAGA Super Trump Mega Thread

i think anytime in history the elites took over beyond what the public could accept, their heads were chopped off.

how big someone else's bank account is has zero impact on my life or my ability to succeed.

it's 100% jealousy and whining.

You can't honestly believe that, are you not taking into account how the wealthy influence politics/policy?

sure, if you look at revolutionary years and nothing else. meanwhile there were decades or centuries of buildup in between.

how big someone else's bank account is has zero impact on my life or my ability to succeed.

in the most myopic sense sure. but say, hypothetically, you were conscripted to a war to fight to protect the elites' power. maybe even volunteered because of the promise of a better life. either way, your life is not in your hands, nor are your descendants. your ancestors undoubtedly had to do this at some point and survived - voila, you. the same can't be said for the people who don't exist because of it.

point is, you can be manipulated through no fault of your own (particularly if you're poor). maybe in the center of the universe that is you this isn't felt much or at all, but it is happening everywhere. it's a literal game being played on humanity. it's not about yachts or private jets, it's about having control and keeping that control. if what's best for humanity as a whole clashes with the elites' power, the elites win by default. it's the same shtick over and over. capitalism, democracy, and the rise of 1st world nations made massive inroads into the power disparity for a time, but it is eroding quickly and probably accelerating. the most blatant sign of this is unjustified wars and warlike behavior. but so are the rise of megacorps and the denial of climate change, among others.

but maybe i've read too much stephenson

conning people who have nothing into believing that its unfair others are doing better than they are and should be forced to pay more (through their leadership of course) is a crime against humanity

as was pointed out last century -socialism / communism only requires useful idiots. you're trading one set of masters for another that just so happens to keep you defenseless and insures you cant rise up against them. bonus: will murder you for wrong think / crimes against the State

wonderful, how can you not love that kind of system?

:)

of course they do.

but has my life changed in any meaningful way since finishing university and joining the workforce due to who is in charge? not really.

i see politics simply as people trying to make friends rich so they can get some later. it's shitty but does it affect my life in a meaningful way? not that I can see. for the wealthy that influence things, sure it matters to them and their interests. But if google or fb gets a favor, money, whatever...doesn't change my day.

taxes only change up and down by minute amounts...weed is legal and i can marry a dude now. what else has my government ever done for me?

im very apathetic towards all of these points, valid as they are.

my life isnt at risk, and if someone wants to serve that's their choice ultimately regardless of pressures.

of course the elites are playing their game of monopoly trying to make their money. facebook didn't exist 20 years ago and now is a megacorp (trying to) influence the world and elections. but my career isn't affected. the store still has milk and my gf and family are still here going about their day.

zckerberg or joe blow making another billion and buying politicians doesn't affect my life. it goes back to TDS. since 2016 has the world been that different? jobs come and go, times are good and bad. wars start and end. endless bickering and ridiculous panic all for what?

the hysteria was almost as bad as bush. and we had people here calling obama a kenyan antichrist. life always goes on.

i think the relevant concerns are things Yang is pointing out like automation etc...but just like the industrial revolution, the dawn of the internet...things change, people adapt. there are periods of pain and periods of prosperity.

work hard, save.

pagy spends 2000 words and two pages to say "fuck you i've got mine". this is a fine position valid for many, but it's corrupted by upper middle-class who think that because they have some spending money they are a target of wealth redistribution

So now we're sub-dividing class?

It's not just the 1% that are the problem... it's also the 1% of the 65% of the half that are doing ok?

Everybody who isn't me and my situation, is the problem that is keeping me down.

have you ever considered maybe just getting a job, making a valuable contribution to society and earn the money you're craving?

I can revise that a bit to: "fuck you i've got mine and you could have it too if you weren't a worthless lazy waste"

If you want money all you have to do is earn it. Earning money costs time. Earning a lot of money costs a lot of time. You make the choice

You'll never believe what the Overstock CEO Patrick Byrne said about Russiagate....
Yeah, Im not very good with bait-headlines. Baitlines... :)

[.....]
Patrick Byrne: I ended up in the center of the Russian and the Clinton investigations. I have all the answers. I have been sitting on them waiting for America to get there. Last summer I figured out… what they all are is all about political espionage. It had nothing to do with law enforcement, it was all political espionage. Here’s the bottom line. There is a deep state like a submarine working just beneath the waves of the periscope depth watching our shipping lane. And a nuclear ice breaker called the USS Bill Barr has snuck up on them and is about to ram midship.

That’s about to happen and I think we’re about to see the biggest scandal in American history as a result. But it was all political. Everything you think you know about Russia and Clinton investigations is a lie. It’s all a cover-up. It was all political espionage.

David Asman: You think Bill Barr is going to get to the bottom of it.

Patrick Byrne: I think he has gotten to the bottom of it.

This CEO is about to get clintoncided.
