Black Panther was ok. For what it was. It just wasn't what certain elements of society lifted it up to be. People imprinted their own symbolic narrative onto a common, cookie-cutter super hero movie. That's what makes this charade of Golden Globe/Oscar nominations absurd. It saddles the movie with connotations that it doesn't deserve. That said, its good to have a protagonist that people, especially kids, can identify with. Nothing wrong with having black super heroes... but what about Falcon? Or Iron Patriot? Or Nick Fury? They don't have their own stand alone movie?
I like the Black Panther as a character and when he cameo's in the other super hero movies, but in his standalone story which is pretty generic, there were too many CGI driven action sequences that just looked cartoonish and artificial. However, that's something lots of movies go overboard with, not just Black Panther. CGI is good when used appropriately, it makes a movie look cheap when used to push action sequences over the top beyond that line where it is obvious this couldn't be possible except through CGI.
