If we have any chance at integration, then education is the only way.
I don't have a problem with changing the 14th Amendment. I'm just saying it needs to be done to make this work. We know how fussy some of you get about those constitutional thingies...

imo the obvious compromise is to just cut off the illegals from our social safety nets

You know half that shit would only exacerbate the problem. As long as there are benefits to being poor there are people in the middle that get screwed because of some arbitrary cutoff line.
You are here and you have a job and have avoided shit above traffic offenses, here is a work visa pay your taxes and stay out of trouble and you can become a citizen in 5-10 years or something.
You want to come here and work and can find a place to live, here is a work visa pay your taxes and stay out of trouble, hell here is a class to teach you English.
Now that you have created incentives for being a useful member of society, you can start throwing back anyone who tries to cross illegally much faster since it isn't as hard to come here and be productive so fuck people not willing to try.
We should also probably end the drug war at some point too.

And the other half of the fags really want to see the world changed for better. If you cut out any of those, this forum would die and cease to exist. With this being said, we should embrace that we all need each other in order to have this small community balanced.
