Actually the TV contract is expiring and it is strongly rumored that ESPN, VS/NBC and someone else not named are bidding. It isn't crazy to think that ESPN wants hockey back.

especially since there for almost damn sure wont be any NBA next year, and people will hopefully get sick of nfl lockout talk when there is no chance of any games being missed.

Yes it is. Unless there is an NBA lockout ESPN could give a shit about hockey, they surely haven't missed it.
