The extra temp also means greater risk of thunderstorms.. and the fires themselves are creating a climate which causes even more thunderstorms (once again exacerbated by the warmer temps).

are you suggesting that arsonists created drought conditions and then blew on the fires to create wind until millions of acres of land burned

go start a fire in the everglades and see how far it spreads and then maybe you will begin to understand what climate has to do with bushfires

Maybe because the majority of the planet's land mass is currently in Winter?

Plenty of fires here are cause by dickheads, intentionally or otherwise. Plenty are also caused by lightning strikes. Doesn't really matter once they get burning, the main thing is trying to get them under control which is proving harder due to dry, hot and windy conditions.
 
Instead of practicing bush clearing and fire prevention techniques you just let nature do what nature is going to do. That's the Australian way. And then cry like pussies when nature does it's thing.

It always used to burn, maybe not so bad.

They do clear and back burn less than they used to, but one of the problems is there are far more people now living in these remote bush areas so of course when a fire rips through, you lose a lot more properties than compared to fires 30 or 50 years ago.

Then again, many of the places burned are old properties that have stood for >100 years so something has definitely changed for the worse.

Need to put the Abos back in charge of it, they used to burn the shit out of everything and move on every few years.
