Tribes 3

The best part of the rocket launcher is throwing flares on your enemys when a missle is locked on you. hehe instant TK lol. Seriously, if you had problems with the ML you never really learned how to play T2.

good times...T2 is the greatest game ever made. I would of paid $100 for the game and $15 a month to play when it was at its peak. T:V is very dissapointing...

aesop = thrax?

Thrax has several noob account on here, and for anyone who doesn't believe that, you're an idiot. I run a forum, and we have several people who once had a good name, went bad, were banned, and now they come back under different names. It is usually hard to track one of the guys since he is pretty careful to use different IP's, but every time he makes a slip up somewhere along the line and will use the same IP range as his last account. That coupled with how much he acts like the person, is enough for me to ban him.

I know aesop is Thrax. As for any other noob accounts, I'm not sure, but I know he has a few noob accounts.

i for one dont call it bold and creative

there were too many balance issues and general gameplay aspects that had to be considered before adding any of the things that were slapped in to t:v, it was a bold move to add the pod, was it creative? no, not really, because its a stupid contraption that wont really help you do anything useful. the tank... well... straight out of ut2k4... wtf good is a tank against mobile infantry that can move(and fly) 20x faster then the tank? its a spam weapon, you park it somewhere and spam the hell out of something, now contrary to apparently "popular" belief, having someone spam the shit out of your base isnt really fun

i could go on for a long time, but i'd rather not waste my time, im going to play t1, call me when someone decides to make a tribes sequel that dosent suck(out of the box)

Didnt he make classic... I dont want him making t3...

We could do this... maybe using starsiege 2845... make a full game mod?

That is an idea we should consider. If VU decides to actually sell the game and put it on shelves, then it would be our best chance to add people to our community. Further more, VU could possibly be interested in a full Tribes 3 release if the mod brought in enough people, or maybe they could see a benefit before a mod was ever made.

Right now I think we just need to pool ideas for the game, and from there contact VU with some proposals. I know it sounds pretty crazy, but really if we ever want to see a sequal in the next 5 years, we have to try anything we can.

We need a moderator to support this because if we want the game to be right, it can't have any single person taking off with their vision. The game would be Tribes 1, from there everyone will agree to add to add the command features, deployables, and command features from T2. Finally the rocket launcher, vehicles, and shocklance would be the main things left to vote on to chose what goes into T1. Now matter how the vote ends up on those items, it won't royally screw over anyone, or mess up the balance.

I agree with pretty much most of what you said.

Thinking hard is nothing compared to smart thinking, and I think VUG missed the mark on that one.

As for a game that doesn't suck out of the box. This could mean several things. Something like T:V leaves you so hopeless that many just didn't bother with it. T2 on the other hand probably put off a lot of T1 players, but thats because the movement was not just right. Some people actually preffered T2 out of the box, but to many of us T1ers, it wasn't the same. So when the Variant Classic came out, that fixed most peoples issues, and that brought a lot of us T1ers aboard. So I don't think T2 had to be more then what it was out of the box, minus UE's and the Master server not being able to handle the unexpected number of players.

Lack of carving, disc-jumps (the djs in TV are horrid, and don't give me that "IT'S NOT T1/T2!1" crap, because you don't see Quake3 nerfing the ability to RL-jump), grapple is overpowered and removes too much skill that used to be required to cap efficiently in T1/T2, shieldpack is extremely overpowered, vehicles are pure newbie shit straight out of UT2k4, maps are too confined (OOB issue as well), bases are too easy to rape (with idiotic small entrances most of the time), the new invo system, the piss-poor balance between map sides (and more importantly, the damn bases being different), the lack of options concerning the demo screen (no delete, rename, etc), lack of unique GUIDs (this is a MAJOR issue), etc

UT2k4 vehicles > * and should not even be compared with the turds in T:V. Blame for that falls squarely on the shoulders of IG for designing the pod. Some of the worst ground vehicle physics I have ever seen. No traction, no acceleration, control scheme that doesn't seperate movement from view. A jumping fucking tank?

Wen I think about the vehicles it amazes me the core of T:V with movement, weapons and pack system turned out so well/balanced with the exception of the shield pack and grapple.

Argh you ppl need to remove UT2k4 from your dirty mouths. The UT2k4 tank doesn't jump. It has physics like a tank. It has a worthwhile control scheme. Tribes 2 had a tank. Every fucking game with vehicles has a tank. Its not straight from UT2k4.

Our community may have numbers, but it is by no means as large as others. Tribes has, by no means, ever had a huge community. What we had over the other communitties that made us unique was how tightly knit we were... our smaller size made the interaction more initmate because we tended to play and compete and have fun together, on the same forum, the same ladder, the same servers.

From the outside things might appear to be strong and healthy, but from the inside, a very different view is apparent. We are a bitterly embroiled community, what once united us and made us what we were, now divides us into distinct opinions over exactly what "tribes" is sapposed to be. The "Community" can not create a utopian T3 that rekindles the past because you can not ask the Community what it should be. The Community would never agree or come to any consensus for a project to be considered a product of the collective community. It would simply be, yet one more remake in the image of some elses idea what tribes is. To everyone else, it still wouldn't be Tribes.

I can't disagree more.

While our competitive community has always been somewhat small, and close knit, out forums are more alive then many other well known forums. Like I said earlier, at this point many people on the forums may not play Tribes, but I think they would come back if T1 came back in all its glory.

We only need most people to agree. As a basis, everyone expects Tribes 1 to be the core of Tribes 3, with a graphics upgrade. Everyone agrees that the T2 invo's and commands map should also replace that in T1. Many people agree that deployables and amor classes should be that of T2.

Things to vote on:
Packs
Weapons
Vehicles
. . . .

The actual stuff that is not clear cut, we vote on, and really these issues no matter which way they go will not really hurt the game in any way, or affend anyone if brought in or left out.

ie.

I love my shocklance. But if it was not included, I'm sure I could live without it, like I did in T1. If it was brought in, a Heavy who hated it will get by just fine being a better player by always moving and watching their back, and having to deal with being blocked every once in a while with a SL.

yeah, the t2 tank was a hover tank that moved at a decent speed

the t:v tank is a tank with treads that can jump a little bit, whoopiee

i dont mind the fact that its a tank, i mind the fact that it does not fit at all with tribes when its a ground hugging vehicle

and stopping the UE's and increasing mobility a little bit is something that should have been in t2 at the time of release, its not that hard, it would just take a little more time(granted dynamix was shut down right away, but still), it eventually got to be fun, i started playing it more when i could no longer play defense with a laser rifle in t1(fuck LT) but it actually feels like a tribes game, t:v to me, does not, the style is way off, the way everything feels is just not right, (i will say it until it becomes untrue) it feels more like ut

Hahahahahahaha. Yeah, but don't stop there. Give PanamaJack Auto-Lock rockets ala T2, give him Auto-MA locking discs and an auto destroy button that pwns people when he sees them in his screen.

Furthermore, make sure that there is no skill involved in said game so that PJ doesn't get hurt and cries.

And no tourney mode! No competition ladders! Everything should be pub-only, with server operators only being nice guys who are rich enough to host servers just for the hell of it!

Sigh. The ML ensured that anyone that was going to be on that side of the field, or chasing, capping, what have you, HAD to carry flares, thus negating CHOICE.

All they had to do to fix the damn thing was make it target vehicles only.

funny. Some parts of T:V were bold and creative and got mostly negative reaction....

What exactly about T:V was bold and creative? I can't think of anything. The grappling hook? That was the feature that was going to inspire the masses? Your average newb who tried the game out, who would be the lifeblood of any successful sales and community couldn't even ski properly let alone do anything with the grappling hook.

On the contrary, I believe I could make (or rather, design/head-up) an amazing Tribes game. It wouldn't just have great gameplay... it would have a fully customizable GUI/HUD, with a plethora of admin options (admin hud), advanced UI for demos, and even a benchmark utility. (etc...)

Tribes to me, isn't just about gameplay. I love the idea of being able to customize the look of my game. Of course, I wouldn't let these options get in the way of the gameplay.

what experience do you have that makes you think youd be able to do this?

The majority of this stuff is opionion.

Like what I'm about to say is an opinion:

This community isn't getting nowhere considering how people are acting. What was once all fun and games has been corrupted.

Two words: porn scandal. Anyone remember that? Funny to think, its that kinda mentality that resides in our forums these days.

You are truely delusional. This tard thread is a testament to your idiocy. You have nothing to offer but crying and whining, you spit at anyone even remotely disagreeing with you, including the one you whose boots you lick, PJ. You are an easy mark. Keep up the bovine excrement, fool.

Who can't resist a flying jockstrap? Bwhahaha...

seriously that thing makes me feel like robotic. I thought it was quite clever... just turned out to be less fun that I thought it would be.
