Roof technology

Pulled the gutters off the front of the house Friday afternoon. I had put this garbage half assed back together in July.

It was rotten

Fancy recycled soffit material on the left. Note the stupid 2 inch section at the end :stab:

Replaced that

Had to slide this sheet away from the house so it would sit in the groove of the new face board.

Faceboard groove.
Built a jig with a 2x12 and a 2x4 on sawhorses so I could run a circular saw down the length and cut it the same for two pieces of 8' miratec.

Rehung the old gutters.

I did replace a section near the door. There used to be a down spout on that column, some goober removed it but didn't think about the slope of the gutters.

We always had water dripping and icicles there.

Now it drops about 2 inches from the front door to the end of the run.

I'll have to do the same thing at the back of the house, but not until I get my hands on a decent ladder with a stabilizer. Shits 2 stories up...

a real man wouldn't need a ladder

even midget mitch of dubai wouldn't need a ladder, he'd free climb it and get that shit done did

sad!

This would be a four year project for me that I wouldn't even start until the 3rd year because of mental preparation which would turn it into a 6 year project.

In the soffit panel I think it was built with panel nails at 6", but the panel fits in a groove in the faceboard, and against the house.

Park your car under the ladder, ratchet strap the ladder to it

Mother in law has two really nice fiberglass extension ladders. They dropped them and a trailer off on Thursday, I bought 2 ladder stabilizers today and tore the gutter and soffit off the squirrel hatch. The face board seems to be ok, so I'll grab some plywood and vents and reassemble asap... Between visiting my mother in the neurology ward, she fell down some steps and dared her head up pretty good on Tuesday.

In other news: It's like a frickin' country ladder jambaroo around here!

Can confirm. We were going to do seamless gutters and aluminum soffits this year, but guess I'll just fix it myself :stab:

Nice handiwork.

Your house needs a lot of it.

Not sure why the fuck anyone would not put on a steel roof vs. continuing to buy into the stupidity that are shingles.

I dumped nearly $20K into a steel roof 6 years ago and have had 0 issues - besides the snow avalanches.

Other than that, 40 year warranty - aint no critters chewing through this shit.

Fuck you squirrels.

Ya not sure on the shingles seems like a scam to me. I have a simple v shaped roof. What would be the cost difference between shingles and metal?
