[Photography] Show and Tell Spring 2011 Edition

Pay attention to where your eyes go first in both pictures.. and then tell me which you like more. It's pretty hard not to pick #1.

The birds on the left are also more defined, which just makes the picture..

they're both pretty much the same image, just that the i could get a shorter crop on the second one due to the sun being lower.

didn't have a circular polarizer with me, so I couldn't do much about the contrast. I rather like the reddish hue though, so I guess that kinda worked out.

Belated rep up for you Elvis, you taught me how to take pics of the moon 2 years ago :D

A few shots from recent trips...

The first one has a banding in the clouds that I quite like with the birds, yet the second one shows more detail in the pier. My ideal would be both, from the pier down on the second combined with the clouds/sun/birds of the first. Just to mix it up a little.

here's what im talking about

I also like the higher contrast and the silhouette.. id rather have extreme contrast than bad contrast.. but that's personal prefs

I may have to do that next week... hurt my back at work.. got xrays last week... doc says if PT doesn't work MRI is the next step.

U are shooting straight at the sun. A circ polarizer wouldn't do shit in that situation.

I prefer the first one but I don't like it if you know what I mean.

my camera and lenses were stolen and i dont have the money to replace :( and i really wanna get out and shoot

any rich tw-ers wanna donate a dslr??? :)

i had my d200 and 2 lenses stolen outside of london, along with my passport -- that sucked, so i feel your pain...

not sure how serious you are, but if you are between casual and hardcore amateur/slightly-less-than-prosumer, i'd be waiting for nikon's micro 4/3rds, or maybe take a gander at used olympus pens (EP1 if you're on a budget).

problem is that no crazy glass is out for them, as far as i know, but then again, if all your lenses were lost, then you aren't being shortchanged by having all this high end stuff you can't use.

also, to everyone else, nikon's pro plant (i think D300 and above?) in sendai wasn't really damaged, but was closed following the tsunami (i think canon also had a lens factory in that area as well), so if you're in the market, be prepared for an increase in prices for the foreseeable future.

yeah im a nikon user...was looking to upgrade sometime this year, but now i dont have the money i was hoping to get from selling my other stuff

So I was out drinking and I keep my slim Sony Cybershot on me when I do. Drank a lot of beer and went to Waffle House:
