Marweas still hasnt told us about getting fired

Do it! By the way...to all you devs/Marweas:

How receptive would you (as developers, and a connection into the game developement world) be in a couple years to budding computer science major who wants to make an epic (yea I went there) FPS (maybe MMO) using a mod originally created for T2 (Great Tribal War) as a loose proof of concept? :) I know that's extremely vague, cliche, and far off, but I'm just kinda curious if you think there's a market for such a game after Planetside.

We're actually going to host a pickup game in T2 for GTW that will hopefully attract 40+ players. You should expect invites in your PM box, so install T2 again. Bwahahaha.

[/shameless plug]
gokouzwar was such a fag

I'd be willing perform some kind of satanic ritual for a chance to read that stuff.

I believe that would be akin to actually getting those 300+ pages onto a electronic format :p

Many thanks to all the responces and explanations from the devs etc.

The other haters feeling they can justify themselves now by being vocal when none of us cares and just offends.. can all goto gaming hell...there are enough pages to read as it is :p

 Good point.

I remember that. Me and TalonKarrde were like the first two official playtesters of GTW when it was first made. I stopped playing it pretty much strictly because goku was a dipshit. It was a pretty cool idea though.

i remember a thread where there was some art in entities.vol
that was actually for fear and someone recreated the art

of course theres a shitload of files called fear in tribes
guessing devs at dynamix were too lazy to rename all that stuff

should have left this funky plasma rifle model in there :(
original raindance base (1, 2)

release tribes 2 on darkstar engine, i know you have it!

You know what I want?

I want a Tribes box signed by everyone who has worked on the Tribes franchise... All the old boys from T1, Dave G and the Gang from T2, and yes... even Marweas and pals from T:V...

Why? It would not be for profit. It would be because I'd be able to display that proudly over my mantle, me being the 'cool' gaming grandpa of course, and be able to truthfully tell the grandkids that I was part of a community far, far superior then that of their Counterstrike: 6 community.

And I also want a pony.

Man I should find out if it's cool / legal to show off the original design document for FEAR (the original name of Tribes, before it was switched to Tribes, and was solely single-player). Bioderms, all kinds of crazy stuff. That design doc was like 5 lbs and had 300+ pages of history. Truly crazy stuff. I have all the old design docs dating back to the mid 90s for that stuff courtesy of the old Dynamix guys (actually we have original TIM art, all kinds of stuff from the older games). None of this stuff is in digital form though. I saw a lot of this stuff fall out of the woodwork that had been lost to some old dark dusty storage room (everything from design docs to original willy beamish art, to a Red Baron jacket, and more). While some of this stuff was pointed back to Jeff T, who has a pretty impressive collection of stuff, anything odd, like the FEAR doc I tried to protect from disappearing and stowed in a safe place at GG. If anything it's just neat to know it existed.

Fact: The reason the name Tribes came about was because you can't trademark FEAR as a name (which is why the trademark on the recent game, F.E.A.R. is actually First encounter assault recon). Tribes was called Fear years before, and bioderms predate the name tribes in design.

upload that shit man, I know I'll attempt reading it.

Some of the other more interesting items I found when we moved were also a few unopened copies of the Starsiege boardgame that came out, a whole bunch of old starsiege and tribes hats, even some Starseige velcro/metal wristwatches. All dead of course, but I put all of it in safe keeping. It was wierd, like some time capsule or something opened up when we moved.

ZOMG release to EBAY NOW@!

PS: When's Legions comin out? Come on......... COME ONNN........ you know you want to :brows:

I'm going to piggyback on everyone else and thank everyone from the original dev team for T2 and ex T:V/Sierra folk for stopping by and sharing the wealth of previously unknown information.

Lord knows how much we appreciate it, and how much it means to us. Hell, back in the glory days of T1, I remember going down to Dynamix before a U of O game just to case out the joint.. only to steal all your T2 stuff in development of course ;)

Thanks again though, a lot of us grew up with the Tribes series.

Are there any stories still kept from the old Dynamix Tales of Battle forums? I was a regular there and really enjoyed the stories posted there. I believe I tried to do one myself but that probably horribly failed ;)

There are several hundred of these in existence for T1 and T2 devs (signed T2 boxes), make me an offer on mine, it's mint, and unfolded
