The Power of NEWSGROUPS

The NNTP ignorance here is stunning. Back in the old days before the web existed all we had was NNTP. Here are the very few tools you need to take advantage of news groups:

PowerGrab (and PowerPost if you want to post tons). Free. Found at http://www.cosmicwolf.com/

XNews from Luu Tran. Free. Found at http://xnews.newsguy.com/

WinRAR is a requirement, and these days you really can't get buy without Fluid Studios Software RAID Toolkit. Free at http://www.fluidstudios.com.

Just don't do anything illegal. And stuff.

You forgot Smartpar (par)
and Quickpar (par2)

How can you tell how fast the download is going in Agent?

Download a file, time how long it takes. When finished with the download divide its file size by the time it took to download.

I'm clueless about newsgroups, but I wanna get into it.
I'm in Canada and using Rogers, anyone have any clues where to start?

start out with outlook express

but i think you need a newsgroup program to actually dl stuff

it seems that my server is mail.lightspeed.ca but when i try to connect it says unable to connect to server.. maybe its just due to the nat settings..

See, my ISP has one, but that's the ISP I use at home, and it's 56k.

Here at my friend's PC shop, we've got a T1. However, my stupid ass ISP won't let me connect from here. I really don't want to be grabbing stuff on 56k :(

yeah it is due to the nat i just tried running it from my dads computer downstairs and it worked fine but mine wont connect probably because i dont have a static ip. anyone know a way around this?
