Selling PC... what to save?

I'm selling my desktop PC and I'm having anxiety over making sure I get everything off of it that I need. I have my personal data, but I'm sure there is stuff floating around the C: drive that I need to save. Any suggestions on some folders I should look for?

google some free secure format utility. It will replace all the hidden data with gibberish.

Edit: I misread your post. I thought you didn't want to leave personal info on the drive.

It's also called a shredder. All you data is still there after you "delete" it. It's just flagged as space thats available to be overwritten, but it's still there.

I would sleep on it a few days and think everyday of something that might be missing. That's the only way to know for sure.

I'd personally do a search for

.doc (or whatever you save word documents and stuff as)
.txt
.jpg
.bmp
.gif
.rtf

and any other file types you may or may not use...

fuck searching for folders, most files you name are easily recognizable

in xp: all of c:\documents and settings\your user

in Vista/7, all of c:\users\your user.

That will get easily 95% of all the files you want to keep.

Get your new comp, set it up and use it for a month. If you havne't thought of anything you need after a month, just dump it. Good riddens.
