Is 9700Pro up to par anymore!?

I'm reading all of these threads about the newest video cards...
With T:V HL2 Doom3 and other games comming out is it time for me to upgrade?
 
Depends on several things.

Do you have spare money for a new card?
Does the 9700 Pro still play games to your standards?

Doom 3 is said to play on even the lowest model cards (GeForce 4 MX). So your 9700 Pro should run it ok. Not great, but ok.

I usually buy just under top of the line, spending like 200$ or so. I think my 9800 Pro was only like 215$.

never upgrade a video card for games that aren't out yet
 
i got a gefroce ti 500 for like $25 instead of the $500 my friend paid for it when he got his ROFL owned

ne1 want some econimic pc advice to get the most bang out of ur buck hit me up in PM
 
buy t:v, if it looks like shit, THEN upgrade

plus, dont worry, the unreal engine has never churned out a game that would NEED a card faster than a 9700

1) because you don't know how your card will perform in it. Why replace something ahead of time if it may run it fine...?
2) Any card you buy now will be cheaper when those games come out
3) Any card you may buy now may/may not perform well with certain api's/shaders etc... why risk it
