"We're talking about Valve becoming the platform holder and guardian of the PC as a gaming system over the next two years," says Stephen Gaffney, Business Development Manager of Splash Damage.

With 15 million customers, their digital delivery platform has already taken on a life of its own: through it you can buy all of Valve's releases and over 250 third-party games, while it also takes care of multiplayer matchmaking, voice chat, stats collection, anti-piracy measures and sales tracking.

I love using Steam, Clears alot of space off my desk. that used to be cluttered by CD's and case's.

Steam is a great program, and it's exactly where gaming will end up eventually, cutting out the middle man.

I love steam, it is an excellent program that will be on every PC I own from this day forth.

I wish they would release Tribes 2 on Steam for $4.99. I bet more poeple would play that way :)

Tribes 2 was released for free on fileplanet years ago.

Steam is awesome, too. =) <33 it

steam still irritates me from time to time, but its much much better for PC gaming than anything Intel or MS are doing.

Valve ftw.

they've fixed a lot of the early issues steam had

you don't hear many complaints about it anymore

Because people are tired of complaining.

It's not just Steam, Digital Distribution is the way of the future. There are numerous other companies doing it as well. Off the top of my head Steam, Direct2Drive, Stardock and I'm sure there are many others.

I've used Steam and Stardock Central. So damn convenient.

these are the same people who, three years or so ago, said that Steam was the devil and refused to play it until Valve forced it down their throats.

Just so no one forgets that. . .
