The Gallente Thorax is a bear to fit. Everyone knows this.
So I'm trying to put some fits together that still make use of the bonuses of the thing. Most of the fits below will be Platerax variants (1600mm Rolled Tungsten Armor Plate-fitted Thorax)
All fits below will require Engineering 5/AWU5 (sorry!), but it's necessary to get some of this stuff shoehorned (modify to taste).
All fits will be posted w/o rigs unless it is integral to the fit. Drone loadout is also left to your imagination, but I would suggest 5x ECM drones if you're going to go out and gank miners in lowsec.
For those of you not familiar with the 'Rax, here's the ship description
Estimated Cost: 22.97M for fittings.
Pros:
+Fits
+Leverages both of the bonuses of the Thorax.
+Offsets the weight gain from the plate.
Cons:
-Very skill intensive
-Requires pilot to get VERY close.
-No Armor Repair (-.-);
Variants:
As with most of these fittings, the plate can be dropped down to 800mm to get some extra room if you need it (so can dropping to a T1 Electron for those of you without AWU5).
Pros:
+Engagement possible out of webifier range.
+Can self-repair, but not for much (more for out-of-combat repairing)
Cons:
-No Blasters
-Fairly Skill Intensive
Notes: The Dual 150s can be fairly cheaply had (as few people bother with the dual railguns), and any named can be used in its place. I really wish I could've gotten T2 on here, but it's not possible w/o a rig (or a PDU/RCU).
Variants: If you don't have AWU5, drop the small armor repairer and replace it with another magstab (or another lowslot toy that doesn't use much PG). You can drop the nanofiber to replace it with something else that doesn't use much PG.
Pros:
+Most damage out of a platerax you're going to see. (341dps/647 volley with Void, 293/554 with antimatter, 336/637 with navy antimatter)
+Just. Barely. Fits.
Cons:
-The PG Rig costs more than two or three of your ships.
-Very skill intensive, requires AWU5.
-Expensive as hell.
-Short Range. (5km with antimatter, 8.3km max with null)
Variants:
The nanofiber can be swapped for an overdrive or inertial stabilizer, if that's your pleasure. You could swap a magstab for an armor hardener.

EVE Online said:The Thorax-class cruiser is the latest combat ship commissioned by the Federation. While the Thorax is a very effective ship at any range, typical of modern Gallente design philosophy it is most effective when working at extreme close range where it's blasters and hordes of combat drones tear through even the toughest of enemies.
Special Ability: 5% bonus to Medium Hybrid Turret damage per level and 5% less penalty to max capacitor for MicroWarpdrive usage per level.
