OK OK OK, yea.... so....

My trial has like 5 days left. I want to juice all i can out of it (i cant buy a ferox or indy).

I've basically just gotten to L3 missions on my Caracal. I'm sorta stuck doing L2 with a qual 18 agent at this point. Yawn. I've wanted to try some mining, just to see how it goes (even with low lvl training) but i realize that the real fun is in low security space.

So...

Maybe i oughta try nina mining in 0.0 for fun? :)

The idea being to spend the funds ive made (nearly 20m) on Ospreys... just having fun in low security space, to see what it's like and maybe get some scores with mining.

Maybe...

3 mining lasers, 1 assault
AB
warp core stabilizer
large extenders
pds/co-proc or whatever needded

nothing too fancy and nothing i cant cheaply, quickly replace :D

I know doing this in a group is ideal, and if i can find people to safely work with i will, but... i just want to taste a bit more than L1/L2...
 
there's a difference between running from rats and running from players.

Players will steal your can.

That could quickly become a waste of time. I'd try it in a nice lowsec (a nice 0.2 or 0.3 right near a 0.5 or something) so that if the players were after me, I wouldn't have to run far to get away.

Just remember to stay aligned always, and always have an insta handy.

Thoughts? tips?

I cant figure out how best to use the mids. I mean, i AINT gonna fuckin fight anybody even in .04 so... it's about making a run for it :lol:
 
you got to L3 missions, and a caracal in your free trial?

good lord. be careful. there are L3 missions that give battleships some trouble (Angel/Guristas Extraveganza comes to mind)

You could probably get away with running the simple L3 missions in a cruiser or battlecruiser.

For the tougher ones though, you need the tanking power of a battleship (and some decent tanking skills to boot).

You would get fucked on some L3 courier missions too if you can't fly an industrial.

That's my immediate, cheap Osprey setup. I hit up about 1.5 million on Omber this morning with a L2 quest, and also bought a Badger (tractor beam training right now).

I've applied to TRIBA so im just waiting for an "ok" then im going to try to head out to Fade for some fun with my Osprey during off-hours. :brows:

I have NO idea how things work out in 0.0 and know nothing about Fade (even where stations are) but im hoping to figure out some spots to just poke around with my osprey here/there and hopefully score some cash. If i can do even 700k an hour while training for Ferox, i'll be VERY happy. I dont mind running and the challenge of ninja mining at all :D

As for L3, im holding out. I know they can be done with a caracal but im still at under 300k skill points.
 
Yeah, no way a caracal would be able to do MOrdus Headhunters, and I would bet Massiv Attack and Downing the Slavers would put you in a pod too.
But level 3 missions are defeinetely were I should have started, I could be sitting on a nice bankroll if I had stuck to missioning.
 
L3 in a suped-up Caracal is viable, btw. I just skip the really hard ones.

As for mining... i've hit 0.0 with an Osprey + Badger :D

You need to be able to harvest 16m3 per cycle (as one unit of crokite is 16m3). With the lower mining drone skills, you can't havest that much. You can train up skills to be able to have your drones mine 1 unit of crokite per cycle.
