Couple various questions regarding 0.0

I am mulling over leaving my corp to join up with somebody in 0.0 or get our corp access to mine and play around in 0.0.

I am wondering what you have to give an alliance to have access to their 0.0 space if all you plan on doing is npcing and mining, I dont think we would care what system they said we could go to, its gotta be more profitable and fun then any part of empire.

If I want to join a 0.0 corp, what is the usual deal? do they provide you with a ship if your willing to join them and you have 8mill sp? ie like a signing bonus?
I havent tended to fill my own wallet up, and the ships I fly right now are built by our corps group mining ops.

and finally, you guys sound like your having to much fun, where would I put an application in to join up if I was so inclined.

thanks in advance.

Different corps run in different ways. Some are communist, in that eveything you do is put into the corp, and everything you need is supplied by the corp. In others, every member makes their own ISK and supplies their own ships, and contributes to the corp as needed.

We have fun because we have no obligations. We just shoot stuff, and mine/rat when necessary to support our shooting. We have an office in Ibura still, in the Lonetrek region.

would you take my no PvP experienced ass?

I can fly an Itty 4, Retriever, BS, and in 8 days I will be ready for an interceptor, I have Electronics V and EW V also,
Only nice Tech 2 items I can use right now are Valkryie IIs, and Large Armor Repair IIs
Im sure I can use quite of few EW tech 2 modules also, but I havent bothered.
I've been running level 3s pretty much,
TS or Vent capable, Im usually on during the evenings EST.

Meh, your skills or experience aren't a deal breaker. It's more about willingness to learn and the hunger for combat. As long as you have basic familiarity of how to operate in lowsec/0.0, you'll be okay. We do usually recommend that you have a BS though.

While the majority of alliances don't have any problems with NPCing/mining in their space, you will be expected by almost all of them to contribute somehow to the defense of the region should it come under attack. This could mean just hopping in a T1 frig with a scrambler and joining a PvP op. It is considered VERY selfish if you continue to mine/NPC for self-gain while alliance space is being contested, and is grounds for removal in a lot of cases.

Most respectable corps won't have a problem with providing you with a cruiser/mining barge, or something similar. You would be expected to contribute substantially (ie, providing minerals or ISK) if you desired something more expensive.

And as Mav said, SP isn't really an issue for all but the most elite corps. As long as you show a willingness to be a team player, learn what you can, and contribute to the corp/alliance in your own way, most will take you on. If you're interested in a safe, mining/NPC oriented style, join a corp in one of the two main southern alliances (ASCN or LV). If you want a much more PvP-oriented lifestyle, join any of the northern alliances or corporations (such as FREEE).

Allright, Im gonna try and get us some permission to mine/npc in a 0.0 area
We are very capable of paying a "rent" for being in the region, and probably could help defend the region, we do have alot of sps among us.
If it doesnt work out, I may be heading to Ibura, cause you guys sound like your having too much fun

Mining passes are typically VERY expensive, or just not sold. You'd be much better off joining another corp that's already in the alliance (and therefore not have to pay for a mining pass), or if your corp is already well established and a decent size (40+), you could always apply as a whole to an alliance.

Mining passes typically result in hurt feelings. Many alliances will charge 100mil per week and will not provide any "active" protection for you. Their allies in the area will likely not know of your mining pass status (unless there is a solid commication network in place, which many alliances lack), and will attack and pod you. Just giving some heads up as what to possibly expect.

I'd say bring a POS to the lower geminate area like in or around Atioth, ul4ks, di9yj -all good systems. Be prepared to fight once in a while and then enjoy ratting and mining without paying a fee. It would be nice to have neighbors again, especially ones that have guns loaded and aren't afraid to use them on a moments notice.

thanks for the info, I'm not sure what to do, my CEO is great, its kind of a what ever the best idea is, we do, but he seems to be pretty happy mining in empire, building all kinds of stuff, we do ops in Rorsins which is a .1, run bunches of lvl3s.

I know his biggest deal is trying to get a T2 BPO, which is fine, but chances, I dont really like.

And I'm pretty bored, and we don't seem to have a focus or goals.

T2 BPOs are getting an overhaul this year. Rumor has it they will be substantially de-valued in the coming months. While they will always be usefull for manufacturing T2 items, he may have problems making back his investment, especially after a significant depreciation...

The last corp I was in, when they were in an alliance, member corps would sell transit or mining passes and post the names on alliance mail.

Then you'd have alliance members attacking them and podding them because they'd be NBSIing.

Think: you're sitting at a gate and some guy warps in. He's not blue (so he's not a friendly) so you're supposed to shoot him. But now you have to look at a long, long line of names and try to find his. By the time you realize he's not on the list, he's already jumped.

OR

You're sitting at the gate, and you look at that long list. You look through quickly cuz you don't want him to get away. You don't see his name, so you pod him. Later, after he convo's you and your ceo and bitches both of you out, you realize he was somewhere in the middle of that list.

It's really too messy to deal with passes. Everything not built into the game is very hard to do.

Cause communications aren't always great.

We have fairly decent comms in the north, but we've gone ganking before, and it's been pretty obvious that nobody knew we were there for a few hours.

Those are the best nights. It really sucks though when you're known to the region as FREEE's scout. :(

why dont they set people to +10 if they buying the mining passes?

As Mav said, it's not the alliances you have to worry about, but their friends in the same area who do not know that you've just been set to +10. Many alliances are a giant mess of a coalition that has no semblence of communication besides the "alliance" chat tab.
