Try the M17x Intel RAID Driver 7.8.0.1012 driver on the page below

Alienware : The Ultimate Gaming Machine

:/ There's no 32-bit is there? That's the version of Vista I'm trying to install.

Also, it's still an .exe.. and just meant to.. ? I don't know, set it up on a PC that's already running? I don't know how I could make the setup recognize that driver.

Could I install it to the USB key? and then just have the setup run a search on it for the driver?

Even though it doesn't seem to want to search for anything.

The manufacturer combined your SATA drives as RAID 0 for increased performance. What is the make and model of your laptop?

It isn't RAID 0. It would be a single device in Ubuntu if it was RAID 0. They are independent disks. He still needs the driver, though.

It's not even extracting the .exe because it claims (righly so) that the netbook I'm doing this with "isn't compatible"

hurgghthrgrgghh

Yeah it's not working, this driver. I just threw it on a USB key and targeted the search specifically to the key. Nothing.

Spoiler

Hey no goddamn way, it almost kind of worked with that AHCI thing.

It found it this time (well, one of them.. only 456gb which is just one half of my two drives but whatever)

However upon trying to install to it, it told me that Windows couldn't determine if it had a valid system volume, or something, then exited the installer.

I feel we are close.
