20 years past the days of building machines. This pc is around 10 years old. Son can have it.

Currently looking at the shop I've had good experiences with:
#1. System Box: Intel i7-12700KF 12-Cores 20-Threads 5.0GHz Turbo | 32G DDR4 | 1TB Gen3 NVME + 2TB SSD | RTX3070Ti 8G | WiFi 6 + BT | Windows 11 PRO $3,613.00 AUS
https://www.ijk.com.au/branch/ijk/pr...RTX3070Ti.html
#2. System Box: Raptor Lake i7-13700KF 16 Cores (8P-Cores/8E-Cores) 24-Threads 5.4GHz Turbo, 32G DDR4, 1TB Gen4 NVME + 2TB SSD, RTX4080 16G, WiFi6+BT, 2.5GLAN, Windows 11 Pro $5,334.00 AUS
https://www.ijk.com.au/branch/ijk/pr...s_RTX4080.html
#3. System Box: Raptor Lake i9-13900KF 8P-Cores/16E-Cores 32-Threads 5.8GHz Turbo, 32G DDR5, 2TB GEN4 NVME + 4TB SSD, RTX4090 24G, WiFi 6 + BT, WIndows 11 PRO $7,705.00 AUS
https://www.ijk.com.au/branch/ijk/pr...X4090_24G.html
Currently considering #2. Why? Because #3 seems like too much. I'll want to save some money for 3 huge matching monitors too (no curves). Maybe #1 $3,613.00 AUS will do?
Wil be using it mostly for ****posting, msoffice, and pc games.
Today 1 Australian Dollar equals 0.68 United States Dollar
Should I get #1 or #2?
TIA

I don't know. I hardly even read the specs. Then I read them and like 'holly **** look at price of videos cards' jumping on each rig. Sif I'm going to the get the 3 nearly half of the price is the video card. Surely could upgrade GPU in 1 or 2 in a couple years.

well u could upgrade now to 4xxx, the price/perf is still a bit higher than a 3xxx...
depends on your gaming needs. im playing simple indie games on my 3080 lol... though current one (satisfactory) pushes it a little at 4k/120
edit: just checked amazon for 4090, nm ;P

Yah price of that RTX4090 24G card is likely unnecessary. I don't think we even have FPS that can utilise that much power.

Go with #2
#1 is dog ****.
#3 would be the best though, since you rarely upgrade your pc.

I wouldn't get an M2. No discernible difference to a "regular" SSD.

Thanks for quoting my rig. Glad people are reviewing what I did. Depending on the game you play, you won't need a high powered machine. Honestly, I barely use the new machine since I got my steam deck. But it will eventually become my main rig and it's all set. The old rig is still working for the everyday stuff I do. In fact, I just upgraded the C drive to a 500gig Crucial SSD. Cloned the old drive to it using Acronis.
Amazon.com: Crucial MX500 500GB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 Inch Internal SSD, up to 560MB/s - CT500MX500SSD1 : Electronics
Building the new rig was the fun part. Everything went great in that build and I love the way it turned out. Right now I'm playing GTA V on my Steam deck on a monitor through the dock (60 FPS). That doesn't need a high powered machine. Go figure. I'm future proofed for now and the new machine is ready if the old one dies.
I put Doom Eternal on the new machine and played using a walk through. It looks and plays great, but it got boring after a while having to blood punch every alien to make them die. Same thing with Overwatch 2. Looks and plays great, but it gets boring spawing, dying, and repeating that over and over. The kids playing it are really good because they use Aim trainers (Aim Lab) and there are training maps in the game. They spend hours practicing head shots and they're really good. GTA V is great on the deck so I can play it at my house or the GFs. GTA 6 will come out in 2024 and I'll be ready.
Yes, you need that new machine for your everyday stuff in case your current rig dies. Most parts can be replaced (PS), but if the MB dies, then you have to start over. But depending on the game you want to play, it can be done on the Steam Deck with a monitor that has an HDMI or Display Port connection, and only has to be 1200 by 800.

Those Intel chips are hot as **** and I believe Intel might recommend liquid cooling for the higher end raptor lake cpu's.
AIO is so easy and cost effective these days. I don't see myself using air cooling ever again unless some new tech dramatically lowers TDP.
Running a AMD 5950x with EKWB AIO. Temps are good and never a worry and quiet.

Thanks all. Will look at the recommended variations. These dudes will swap anything out with anything compatible they stock. They have a range of prebuilds to make it easy for boomers like me. I like the shop as it's full of a small army of Chinese and Honkys building boxes
Last time we had an argument cause I said "Just put in a faster GPU" and eventually they found someone that spoke Engrish and 3 of them argued in Chinese at the counter then the Engrish speaker said "No, wait till faster card comes in" and I said "No? I can't wait - I need to have it. I'm very impatient and excited to get new pc - just SLI the fastest ones you have in stock" and they argued more in Chinese and then the Engrish speaker said again "No. Best you wait". Then they eventually reluctantly (shaking their heads) agreed to SLI some 570's and they handed it over.
I liked it cause they got all heated about handing over a machine that was not as good as it could have been. That impressed me.
