Agreed totally... it's not the storyline I don't believe, its Jimmy himself. He isn't selling the storyline to me and it's coming across as contrived.
The other guy in the mask though, Richard Harold, on the other hand he is totally selling the storyline and its believable.

Jimmy's war history isn't that important to his char. They simply used it to set the tone that he would be desensitized to violence, thats all. The only other relation it had was when his wife talked about him screaming in his sleep.
Buscemi's acting is great. His public speaking, his personal moments(His child), and how his anger boils over(giving his brother the axe).
I'd like to go back to these days.
Sure... I'd like to visit the Roman Empire or watch the rise of Nazism or see the Pyramids being built and all... but if I could pick a time to live, I'd throw on my hat, jump in my Deusenburg, drink some bootleg whiskey, and listen to to early jazz/ragtime in 1920s America.
The only thing that I'd really miss is modern medicine and space exploration. The rest you could throw in the garbage.

I always told people when I was younger that my goal was to live long enough that we hopefully discovered the key to immortality, even if it included removing my brain from my body and putting it in some sort of a robot. It wasnt really about forever, but more like the ability to read everything i'd ever want to read, visit everywhere, and not be so frail at the same time. A Thirst for knowledge if you will.
In recent years , talking to my grandparents as they approach the end, I am not so sure. Living a good life for 80 years, having children, grandchildren and maybe even great grandchildren, I could see being at peace with our short time here.

Thanks for the great read. +rep. While surpassed in technology now (duh) the SR71 was always my favorite. I used to read everything I could get on it as a kid. Sold a little "Introduction to the SR-71" manual I bought at an air show when they 1st started showing it off to the public (since they were on to something better already) at a garage sale a month ago to a kid for a quarter.
I would like to travel back in time and see how some of the ancient megalithic strutures where actually created. Pyramids... Stonehenge and the like.
