Not really hard to understand. Probably bought a house he couldn't truly afford, used the equity to buy himself fancier cars, send his kids to prep school, loses his job when everything starts to tank, can't sell the home, can't find another job, repomen calling, etc...
Just as lotto winners tend to end up broke, "rich" people tend to kill themselves if they lose everything.

welfare check is usually because some one has called the police saying youre missing. a childs teacher, a friend. it has nothing to do with being on welfare.

Just because you ****ed your life up doesn't mean you should **** up your whole family.
He should've faked a car accident and killed himself,so his family would've gotten insurance money. What a selfish *******.

Haha. Ouch.
But really, with a masters in administration finance and having worked at reputable places like PWC and Sony, the dude should have been able to get by even after getting laid off.
That house of his is HUGE. There is almost always a market for a place like that. It might be below what he paid, but still. No reason he couldn't get AT LEAST $750,000 on that house even today.
Unless he was working as the janitor for PWC and Sony, he should have been able to conduct a reasonably good adjustment plan. He must have put his money in something volatile for him to really think he was forever ****ed.
Or he could have just been really ****ing dumb.
