most other shifter players hated shifter x. why? idk.
because you couldn't clip your blast walls and force fields? drop limits? was it the introduction of nukes and icbm's? but that didnt come until 1.9! was it the overpowered sniping? was it the fact that you could get first place in a match and get zero kills or flag captures by just destroying enemy inventory stations?
the most recent memory i have of homelan is going on their message boards to try to talk them into joining a competitive shifter ladder but we used droppers and they didnt - this must have been in the 2000s like 07 or 06 or something
also athena telling me not to swear and banning me from a forum and that whole memorial server for berzerker which was v sad but always stayed full
i think 2:37 played shifter_x a lot too at one point
i think a lot of the shifter_x or _tg people moved to another game or right into annihilation @ some vague point in the end pushbiscuit etc
i 1v1'd a lot in shifter_v1g and shifter_k and _gtc (gonzo the clown is on the forum and discord somewhere same with ascain and fubar and probably gryflcn) so i could never get into shifter_x and i always thought it was a bit more laggy because u do a lot of sniping and fast deploying d clipping shit in 1v1s
my hard drive with all my shifter demos is somewhere i hope i can find it again one day
idk if midair is moddable so much as hackable but if there was one mod perfect for midair it'd be shifter,
idk if id play midair_shifter_x super actively compared to midair_shifter_v1g but i think the amount of money it'd make with a steam release would be silly - like minecraft
annihilation and meltdown always felt a bit more like ultraren to me but i tried both and i almost became a gundam lord way back in the day
shifter was the best memories i have in tribe gfg im sad so many LT people didn't try the competitive version
i remember there were so many versions of shifter, i can;t do all the tags but i remember shifter HardCore =HC= and that LT team that i thought had the best tag hawkbats =h_b= directly came from shifter {HB}
not to disparage the dead but i clearly remember some public shaming of HF|Berzerker being caught cheating using a targeting laser exploit (for calling air strikes) that would hide the laser if you use it around a corner. RIP
i used this exploit too, and it was great.
also csports.net had a global ladder per mod based solely on total points accumulated, as they constantly scanned server scoreboards. it lumped all the shifters together
at some point i reached #1/8000. i was on a mission to get there by destroying generators which gave more points than flag captures
- EDIT - ya i can remember homelan had their own competitive ladder going and i skipped playing it because i enjoyed the clipped defense blastwalls forcefields of v1g and _k etc more than the homelan ladder
i know 2:37 played on that ladder and a lot of homelan people were serious about it
there definitely were a few forum raids between maxogc or the shifter on the net people vs homelan and im pretty sure aside from posting porn involving insertion of giant pythons into orifices i also said some bad stuff towards the homelan ppl
@ one point we even made a 3v3 shifter ladder on twl in like 2005 but I cant find the archived link
-edit- if you want shifter k/v1g/config files troc's website has some and i can host some more but tw wont let me post a megaupload link so i linked it in the discord
i could totally compromise to a shifter_x style game in midair if it had to go that way but i will always love clipped d shifter style (i know other mods and base use droppers but i couldn't get into the annihilation style of building laser boxes etc)
i think shifter in midair or even unity would make more money than midair's LCTF garbage
As mentioned previously, bugspray has nothing to do with Midair:CE.
If he wants to access original Midair it's free to play on Steam, and I had no involvement with that game (other than as a player).
Midair: CE is currently not community moddable - I believe some of the more technical guys have looked into what it would require and it didn't seem to be easy but while we haven't said 'this is not happening', I'd say it's very unlikely before release.
back in the day it I was DMM|T Deceptikon, later it became HF*|T Deceptikon the * in the name is what indicated admins on the old homelan servers
they maintained multiple versions of shifter and renegades iirc
the DMM days were very fun I joined to maintain my sad password on the DMM and later the Homelan fed duel servers
DMM was fun as hell and it became very much less fun after Homelan took over, DMM was just a company whose employees who liked having their own game servers

no doubt bugspray has spare keys to his own video game but y anyone would want to play it with the circlejerkers on a pu bot idk
also broast or anyone else that is a t1 coder could probably level midair and make it way more fun than the knock off dumbed down version of LT it's running to noobies
i wasn't a shifter_x or tg fan but i'd play that over midair LCTF any day
