I'm using a netgear wgr614 v4 and want to use it as a wireless bridge for the wireless network in my home so that I can hook up my XBOX and things such as that.
I'm not really sure what model the router being used to broadcast the signal is (just moved to a new place, haven't had a chance to look yet).

Halp meh T-dubs!

It'd have to be a pretty long router

Routers are generally too small to make a useful bridge. Anything bridgable by a Router can usually be stepped or hopped over without needing the router, thus making them redundant.

Although, technically, yes you can make a bridge out of a router if it's the right shape.

I think enough cat5 would make a better bridge than a single little router.

I think you would need a few hundred more routers and some sort of way of connecting them to walk across.

Hey guys. I don't know the answer, I'm just checking to make sure there were some responses about taking a router and making it an actual walking and/or car bridge. Has it happened yet?

Dude, I'm telling you, it's en route. If I didn't lose the tracking number I would tell you when you could expect, but I did so I can't. Just be patient.

I don't think so *because* it'll be so packed.

I've been trying to think of a good place to watch it from, but haven't come up with anything. We might just find some random street to watch from.

If you can get DD-WRT on that (it looks like some versions are supported), you can make it a bridge. There may be other firmwares that include this ability, as well (OpenWRT, etc.)

If I recall there are sites with firmwares for quite a few routers that transform them into real expensive routers and briding and access point usefulness is in that.
