I am fascinated by the fact that there was enough warning and protest over the unsafe set that people actually packed their bags and left. There are text messages and evidence to this fact. They left because there had already been accidents on the Rust set.

And no one takes that into account. Or cares. They blow by it like it means nothing. It shows the insanity of certain types of people.

People have already mentioned involuntary manslaughter, but normally you have to have done something wrong to get that. He didn't load/unload the gun. He was handed it. If anything, the AD or armorer would get this charge. I think anyway.

Honestly I could see it having a twist. Like the Assistant Director (who was supposedly touching the guns every time) loading live ammo into the guns trying to get people shot (for whatever personal reasons) knowing he could blame it on the rookie Armorer.

In the end it's still a safety failure to not check the gun every single time it's picked up though (however tedious it is).

I doubt anyone intentionally tried to get someone killed. It doesn't really fit the situation.

I do suspect that there's a team of "crisis communicators" doing everything they can to shift attention off of specific people and their reputation and onto something/someone else. Regardless of what any investigation determines to be actually at fault... if Alec Baldwin is convicted in the court of public opinion then it could affect his ability to sell movies.

The rookie armorer is just such an obvious scapegoat that makes her easy for people to dismiss and not care about. It's not an accident that she gets doxxed and of course the most unflattering of depictions of her find their way onto the internet. That's the M.O. of Crisis Communication at work. The spin factory doing its thing.

This isn't just one persons fault, multiple things had to happen from multiple people for this to end the way it did. But we, as a society, always want to boil things down to one thing that we can curse and then cast off as way of dealing with tragedy.
