How do 2 people xfer one character from one account to another?

Does one party have to temporarily "pay" for the other's account, allowing the account holder name the be the same temporarily? I've always wanted to know how this works.

From what I understand, the Name on the account info must match, unless the accounts are consolidated via the bnet account creation.

A few months ago I bought two Wow+BC packs for cheap, did recruit a friend to each other, leveled both to 70 and transfered one over.

im guessing you are trying to sell a single character and not the account... you are most probably going to have to buy another wow account and upgrade it to transfer characters off.
