To his credit, he ain't wrong. The entirety of the movie appears to be nothing more than an advertisement for "social media". (whatever in the **** "social media" even means) Watching this movie was akin to watching a bunch of climate change activists screaming about the environment.
A call from "social media" to government(s), begging for "intervention" which will result in regulatory controls being instituted, which will ensure the tech sector's ability to survive at the standard of living they've become accustomed to. Especially those riding this massive advertising bubble.
In order to do this, they gotta get the electorate fired up, angry, and demanding or even begging for the e-changes that many of the very same people recoiled in horror to 20 years ago.
Every demographic is well-hooked on the drug. Now its just a matter of threatening users with a supply problem.
