melisandre is hot enough imo, most of the chicks on the show aren't that hot anyways.

Stannis was always described as gaunt... or at least not a "big" guy, maybe gaunt later...

Either I skipped over the original description of Stannis or I just forgot it and made one up in my head, but I always pictured him looking a lot like Robert(older brother and all).

The casting for Davos does seem spot on, but he's never done much for me as a character. I'm about halfway through book 5 and his are some of my least favorite chapters.

From what I remember, Stannis was described mainly as tall and skinny. later chapters he begins to look like a skeleton

Lots of departure from the books in this one episode. This does not bode well.

I didn't think it went too off the books - though I think they are doing things kind of out of order and such.

Man, when they get to A Dance with Dragons they should be able to wrap that up in like 3 or 4 episodes.

I haven't read the books, but the reviews make it seem like Dance with the Dragons is a really boring read

it's better than the fourth book so far, but I suppose that isn't saying much.

They changed a bit, nothing crazy. Just added in some things (do little finger and cercei have that confrontation in the book? I don't remember it), took out others. Changed the sequence of events(Maester Cresen trying to poison Melisandre is the prequel in the book), spliced things together.

Overall though I can't say it was bad. Fully immerses you into the action from the very start and keeps it going.

I'm fine with the little changes. It means we really don't know everything.

So I'm guessing that Ros has taken over the role of Chataya?

I know who Davos is but where was he in the episode? Somehow I missed him.

He was there in most of the shots with Stannis and Melisandre. He tried to stop Maester Cressen from poisoning Melisandre. He was also the guy that picked up the sword from the beach after Stannis drew it from the fire.
