Anyone know anything about removing airpush from Android devices? I read about an app on Google Play that is supposed to tell you which apps contain it and then you just delete them, but that seems sketchy.

I saw this on StackOverflow (posted by an Airpush employee so take with grain of salt)
) Airpush is absolutely not adware or malware -- it is simply an alternative form of mobile advertising. A permanent opt-out link is tagged on each and every ad, and users can easily uninstall the application display Airpush ads. To determine which application shows Airpush ads, the user can simply check his Recent Apps by holding the Home button, and also the application name is displayed post-click in the upper left of the Webview container. Also, Google plans to include capability for multiple click events within items in the notification tray, at which point we will be able to have a 1 click opt-out versus the current 2 click process. Still, it's a very simple process to optout today, which isn't something any other networks offer.

If you have root, deleting apps is nice and simple. Trick is trusting the apps you use to detect dodgy apps. Three years in and I like Privacy Inspector for detecting, and Droidwall (simple kernel iptables app) for blocking.
After a bit I just stopped installing apps just for their convenience, and trust only a few. Android's model is crap, but less crap than any other. At least you're in control of your own device and its OS.

No, you're just not aware of it, and you couldn't do anything about it if you were. There's a difference.
Oh, and it's not your iPhone. Read the EULA. The phone you think is yours and the OS you're leasing both belong to Apple.

I'm some uber nerd, and Apple or anyone with the code can shut your iPhone down. Whether you're a willing victim or not, that's malware.

keep telling yourselves that as you recompile your kernels while the rest of society gets on with their LIVES using an iphone that 1) works and 2) doesn't have malware that can wipe your computer or steal your identity or whatever

airpush isn't really malware.
its just abused by some app developers to spam notifications and ads. ie adware and ****ing annoying. it generates revenue for the developers as it tracks and pays out on a per view basis. i'd never keep an app with airpush.
install airpush detector as mentioned above

It's not hard or time consuming. Choose wisely, and compile. It's a pretty basic skill. If you can't be arsed, that's fine, but you'll have to take whatever we give you.
Program or be programmed.

Airpush isn't malware, it's merely annoying and ads for said app. 4.1+ you can disable Airpush per app. Actual malware is by your service provider anyways. You know, those text messages that if you don't reply STOP you start getting charged monthly.
I went back and forth with T-Mobile for months getting charges drop. Now they wont refund charges and you have to get a hold of whatever company spammed your device. So if you really want to **** with someone, put their phone number in those online serveys, Facebook. etc.
