Kissing in certain public places is illegal and could result in deportation.[208] Expats in Dubai have been deported for kissing in public.[209][210][211] In Abu Dhabi, people have been sentenced to 80 lashes for kissing in public.[212] A new federal law in the UAE prohibits swearing in WhatsApp and penalizes swearing by a 250,000 AED fine and imprisonment;[213] expatriates are penalized by deportation.[213][214][215] In July 2015, an Australian expatriate was deported for swearing on Facebook.
