[SO] The government is shut down...

Procedure-wise I'm not sure how this whole thing was intended or supposed to pan out, but my employer dumped their part-time employees from their medical insurance (myself included), I've had my overall hours reduced to a cap of 29 per week.

Nothing about this health-care crusade has helped me, it has only cut my hours, and taken my existing health insurance from me. I'm now forced to use this market place bullshit to find an insurance provider that the government is now going to subsidize. I highly doubt that I could possibly find insurance as cheap as what I was already getting from my employer.

And if I find myself in the bracket of people that suddenly qualify for the 'don't pay a dime for this shit' category of people that have the entire cost subsidized then I'm going to be at a complete loss for words. I was perfectly content paying my way into a health insurance system that was there as backup plan in case something did happen and not by virtue of something I was entitled to.

I hated not having insurance when I played the russian roulette game of job hunting to find a part time employer that could work with my availability and be willing to give me the option for it. But not having it was incentive to find a fucking job that offered it. I don't share or want this sense of entitlement that people often fall into, that takes away from their incentive to work harder or to better their lives on their own merits.

This shit fucking sucks through and through.

forgive me if I am equally skeptical of your company' decision as I might be of Obamacare's effectiveness.

there's a lot of businesses out there that don't know their ass from the elbows. them crowing about how healthcare costs are forcing them to do these things are the equivalent of shitpants Jomo complaining about welfare entitlement programs.

some of these same businesses that bitch and moan about the ACA are happy to turn around and benefit from the various protectionist, anti-consumerist legislation enacted to make sure they can still continue to function competitively, albeit shitheadedly...

If "it's a law", how did the requirement for business get pushed back a year? And why shouldn't the requirement for individuals be given the same consideration?

Obama administration to delay part of Affordable Care Act

Regardless - it's still a law broskisefasjones.

Don't kill the messenger :)

Also more info:

The study also serves as a counterpoint to Obamacare critics’ argument that the law’s individual mandate for all Americans should be similarly delayed and eventually repealed. “We should be thinking about giving the rest of America the same exemption that Obama…gave businesses,” said House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH). But although 300,000 Americans would be temporarily affected by the employer mandate delay, scrapping the individual mandate would leave over 13 million Americans uninsured and raise premiums in the individual market between 15 and 20 percent.

I go to my states health insurance exchange, where various health insurance companies compete for my service

i'm not sure what the problem is

I think the problem is the principal of the thing...

I am now required by law to purchase health insurance, which I may or may not use or pay the federal government a fine if I do not buy it.

In other words, I am now required by federal law to pay a private company a premium every month or there will be repercussions and I will be considered a law breaker.

The interesting thing is that if a debt were owed to health care facility they would have the cost of taking a person to court to realize payment from those that refuse to pay and most health care facilities won't bother with that cost, they will write the debt off.

The fine the government puts on anyone that does not pay up is through the the federal tax institute, they, the IRS do not need to take anyone to court to put a lien on property to secure payment, there are provisions within the tax code to come straight after anyone that does not pay taxes/fines and secure a lien without court proceedings.

Note: for anyone tempted, don't even compare this to vehicle insurance. I can choose not to drive a vehicle and not pay that insurance without threat of a fee from the federal government and still be within the law.

Does Obamacare cover the cost of tissues for all these people crying over it?

Shit....need the deal with it gif.

"He was the one who said if the House voted to defund, that the Democrats would fold and the president would fold. So if the government shuts down, it’s obviously Ted Cruz’s fault." — U.S. Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y

“You have this group that keeps saying somehow if you’re not with them, you’re for Obamacare,” said Representative Devin Nunes, Republican of California. “If you’re not with exactly their plan, exactly what they want to do, then you’re somehow for Obamacare, and it’s just getting a little old.”

“It’s moronic to shut down the government over this,” he continued.

Representative Peter T. King, Republican of New York, said junior staff members were “being used as a sacrifice” for a political gambit, driven by Republican hard-liners in the Senate like Ted Cruz of Texas, that will go nowhere.

“They locked themselves into this situation, the dead end that Ted Cruz created,” Mr. King said.

hopefully this episode marks the end of far-right ideologue republicans and we don't get a repeat of this shit in 2 weeks when the debt ceiling needs to be raised.

Peter King is a Democrat... or RINO if you will. He's part of the 'problem' with the one party system we have today in Washington.

What? He's been bitching at Ted Cruz and Rand Paul for a long time, he wants control of the Republican Party because he has Presidential aspirations. He's an establishment "status quo" 'Republican'.

Hm, this is unfortunate timing. My roommate was about to close on a house with her federal socialist states of amerikka loan, now im not sure what is happening because of the shutdowns effect on getting it closed.
