nothing better than a coffee house philosopher on the internet. i can practically smell the weed and patchouli coming through my monitor
okay then?
but you really did accidentally chance upon the concept of mediated communication, which can be explained pithily as 'a german man reading subtitles on a hollywood film is really watching a german film'
this makes you a marxist who believes in cultural marxism
I can sign you up as a member of the socialist workers party (trotskyist/leninist - think of T/L as our marxist version of gender pronouns and you'll fit right in) right now if you like
I always thought that was pretty clear. Further you get away from urban centers the less likely you are to see people who go out of their way for the latest fad.
I have some areas around me if you asked for that out you might get beat up. Not much to do with right or left. Just city hipster vs everyone else and some liberals I know hate that more than anyone.
AKA: cities are how civilisation advances. They are by definition, progressive. The concentration of people means more exposure for all of them to differing views and ideas which those in the surrounding & supporting rural areas lag behind. Their exposure to new concepts are therefore stuck in an eternal twilight, lagging behind and never quite catching up with the rest of their society.
That nice. But when you talk to actually Puerto Ricans..which florida is full of. They're not particularly interested in statehood. Why would they be? Now they get all the benefits of being a state without the federal interference

I don't think i 'got ya'. How many puerto ricans are around you? I have probably 5-6 PR friends all but 2 regularly go back to PR (outstanding rum), dated quite a few PR girls, Tampa is a HUGE area for PR and cubans, so i tend to hear things more from the 'source' than from a 4th tier website from the other side of the planet.

Well **** man, you CLEARLY speak for the entire population of Puerto Rico with those credentials.
