Sometimes I would drink the next night just to get rid of that lingering hangover.
It worked great for a couple of hours, but the next day's hangover was even worse yet.

I have absolutely no idea what made me remember this just now.

Maybe your mind gave you a subtle warning for whatever reason. Have some tea.

When you are drinking, what are you celebrating?

I quit drinking bcuz it wasn't fun anymore, and I saw the bar flies deteriorating rapidly

I only do that on party weekends (holidays and neighborhood has pool parties) or vacation. Did a 10 day cruise last October......I could not wait to get home by the end of it.

My reasons were more prosaic; I quit drinking because it was dumb.

It was interesting to watch someone relapse though.

Cruises are a woman thing imo. Went on one last year, also was glad when done. They are kinda boring. Good food, good shows, just not my thing.

The relief from "hair of dog" can be achieved with very little alcohol. I think much of the "hair of dog" appeal is an excuse to extend drinking. The real bad alcoholics will have a sip before work just to get the day going.

I don't think I would enjoy all the people around for a cruise. I've read that you can rent a room on container ships, have free run of the ship. Few others are around and they are always working. The rates when I checked were about the same as a hotel stay.

Maybe you had some change in chemical use and it provided a moment of clarity, or you stopped using something that fogged your mind so you didn't think about it.

If you send me dollars I can ask "and how does that make you feel?"

A retired couple sold their home so they could permanently live on cruise ships for less than $43 a day
Quote:
A married couple from Seattle say it made financial sense for them to sell their home, retire early, and live on cruise ships full-time.

Angelyn and Richard Burk's story was first reported by Australian outlet 7News and the Independent.

Former accountant Angelyn Burk calculated that for close to £35 ($43) a day, which covers the cost of all meals and drinks, they could make cruise ships their permanent home.

Living at sea seems to be a growing trend. Former cruise director, Christine Kesteloo, told Insider in April that she lives on a cruise ship for half the year after losing her job during the pandemic.
[...]

Storylines is offering fully furnished homes aboard its new cruise ship, starting at $500,000. The ship will feature a movie theater, three swimming pools, 20 restaurants and a wellness center.
