This whole step was pretty much around drilling those friggin holes in them all. Now I have to mark them and pull them apart.

3 x 2 person seats

Project brief is pretty much... Tidy up old chairs and paint them to match the painted timber deck which is a very light grey, almost white."
What thickness and width? I have a few benches to rebuild myself. I have a pile of old skis I was planning on using, but wood would surely be simpler. Maybe not as neat, but simpler.

150mm x 25mm x 2400mm

They generally come about 155mm x 27mm. Have to sort through the stack a bit to avoid defects etc.

If you mean the length of the slats. About 1200 mm

so 5/4 x 6.5 inch before drying. 1x6 actual. Sounds like a typical deck board here in the states.

I kinda dig the old truck tailgate benches.

I'd like to have something like this for my garage

They were ripped (cut lengthways) to narrow them. Typical decking here for treated pine is H3 90 mm x 22 mm with a ripple on one face. The ripple faces DOWN to vent the joint. People are starting to use composites. Some composites are ok, some are really ****. Building and maintaining hardwood decking is a pain I avoid. Built plenty of treated pine decks and I then paint them.

Ripped them down to 55 for the chair with lots of narrow slats. The older chairs with berries range from about 100-135mm wide.

If you put those screws in deeper you could use them to hang the slats up and paint all sides at once

tbh, they looked really nice plain, you should have just oiled them

matching them to the deck is a terrible idea, you shouldn't listen to your wife

I really like the color of the metal frames. The grey boards will go well with it.

Lots on nice wood grain stuff in the house. These outdoor seats need to match outside. I'll posts some pics later of some antiques with nice wood grain... that are inside the house.
