Several weeks ago the sky was yellow. Well, it was a dark red for several hours, then it changed to yellow later in the evening."The sky is yellow."
"No, the sky is blue."
"SEMANTICS OMFG"
Yeah, that too.it was more an orange/brown here
You can stipulate that consciousness is a manifestation of physical processes. Our shared consciousness, our abstractions and ideas and our perception of the reality around us, is not physical.Well, and I'm saying this to take his legs out from under him and and also acknowledging that it is an asshole response, consciousness is not a physical understanding yet, but the simple fact that all of our chemical processes are in fact physical means that at some point we might have a clear link.

Seeing as how 90+% of the human species has always lived near the oceans, it makes much more sense that a YUGE ice shelf in Antartica collapsed and the proceeding wave that went around the world engulfed millions of people living on the shoreline. To them, the world flooded, and that was what was written down, either in clay or in stone.
Same for me when I was little. The church has been part of the USA all these years. The flaw is the stories of the bible have nothing to do with modern times. They are fairy tale stories, which the pastor uses to show the power of God. They represent a land that has nothing to do with the USA. Yet people go to Church to hear the stories. They tide money and give their time out of guilt. Doesn't stop the riots and violence happening today. So what good does preaching stories from 2k years ago matter? Oh, it's a test, a challenge from god, his way. Right. My parents never really talked about religion much. We did go to church when we were little, did the first communion thing etc. but it was more tradition and what everyone did. So never had them telling us what to believe or not to believe. My parents were more concerned that we behave, work hard and be respectful to others.
Thanks. I can take it one step further. There are religions started in the USA, but most are whacked, jokes, or cults. Also seriously we cannot bury ngfm wanting the USA to make its own religion. That's a TWHOF post.
Got you to reply

Yes, and I cannot help but notice that you're avoiding to answer.Did he really just ask me how I concluded consciousness is not physical? Holy shit.
Yes, and I cannot help but notice that you're avoiding to answer.
I wonder why that is.
The only thing I asked you is to explain why you believe the things you say.I'm avoiding the incredibly retarded kid asking horribly stupid questions that's all...
If these discussions are a waste of time, it's because people are unwilling to admit that they have no good reason to believe the things they believe, and especially have no good reason to tell others that they should believe the same things.
He was paraphrasing mark twain. But you are an idiot and think ricky gervais could have such an epiphany.Religious people are weak. The worst people on earth. People like Tehvul who have spent 40 years being deplorable scumbags and then get religious because they think it's gonna save them are the weakest cunts in existence but they think they're strong. Face up to who you are.
Ricky Gervais said it best when asked what he thinks happens when he dies - "same thing that happened for the 13 billion years before I was born, life just carries on without me in it".
I really didn't mean to come into this thread to make fun, but rather have discussion...
But that ngfm post is goddamn gold right there
THE USA NEEDS THEIR OWN RELIGION. NO MORE FOREIGN FUCKS!
