Yeah, I never tip too well there unless I get a nice waiter. Their ice cream is good, but I don't understand how it can take twenty minutes to give me a scoop of ice cream. It's not even as if I'm in a hurry to leave - just, for me, if I go there just to get ice cream, I don't want to spend hours there waiting.

Once upon a time I was waiting on a family of 4. We were understaffed int he kitchen, and ont he floor, but that wasn't a big deal because business was slow. The family consisted of two young girls, and their parents.
They ordered their food and drinks, and I brought everything to them.
This took approximately 5 minutes.

When it came time to deliver the check, I did so.
They paid, and left.
When I went back to the table there was a note that said "You are a bad waiter!" along with some math work (which was entirely wrong). Both the note and the math had been done by the kids, so it's no surprise that whatever the **** they did made their bill come out to 4 dollars less than what they were charged.

Tip, despite popular conception, is not mandatory. If you aren't happy or satisfied with the service, why should you give them any more than necessary? Personally I don't go middle of the road - either they get a nice tip, or they get nothing or close to nothing if I feel they did at least something redeemable.

I've honestly never had this before were the bill took 5-10 minutes in between each session.

****tastic service == no tip. Its not that hard of a concept.

I generally don't frequent places that have ****ty service though so this has only happened a few times.

my wife was a server for a few of our early years so i know how important each tip can be which has made me a very good tipper. which can also mean i can be the worst. especially when my wife chimes in about the service because she knows when its bad service vrs internal restaurant issues. that being said; i believe that a 0 tips doesnt effect them the sAme way as a tip of a few pennies will.
