Why are you insisting on a prebuilt? That system is has a terrible GPU for the price.

Here's my build with todays prices on Amazon.

(add 209.80 for memory, $2,350.24)

The 12900kf is 549.97, 290.97 more than the i5 12600kf I used in mine. But probably not worth the extra over a 12700kf at 377.98, 177.99 more than the i5 at 259.99. If I hadn't gotten my 12600kf for 229 I would have gone with the i7.

add 290.97 to the build cost for an i9 12900kf
177.99 for an i7 12700kf

TLDR:
Nicer **** and cheaperclose to same price.
$2,528.23 with i7 12600kf
$2,641.21 before tax with an i9 12900kf and 3080ti

edit: ****, forgot Amazon.com: Kingston Technology Fury Beast Black 32GB 5600MT/s DDR5 CL40 XMP 3.0 Ready Computer Memory Single Module KF556C40BB-32 : Electronics
$209.80 today, added that to the totals above.

I got all my stuff for 2310.40, GPU prices continue to fall, no reason to settle for a 3060.

Subtract $570 if you really want a 3060.

Thanks Plasmatic I ran out of reps for you.

Is this any good with more ram? Can the MB take a better CPU or is the CPU ok?

Intel BX8071512600KF

I don't care for upgradability or overclocking if the thing can do decent frames for 5 years. I'll often upgrade a GPU later in the machines life but that's about it.

AU prices.

Juggs, you can change out anything at this shop, or create your own with their builder. They make some example boxes like the one I linked. There will be shops like this online near you.

The 660 chipset is DDR4, but fine if you're on a budget. The 690 chipset is DDR5 and direct connects the CPU, M.2 and first PCIE.
I'd put more into the M.2 and skip the second 2.5 inch ssd.

3060 again? It's $200 more there?

The Noctua I listed above beats most water coolers.

Mobo can take any 12th gen, and the upcoming 13th gen, and probably 14th gen cpu's. The m.2 you selected is gen 3, mobo can handle gen 4.0.

Builders are using up DDR4 as fast as they can, expect prices to slide on it along with GPU's. DDR5 and z690 boards aren't much more. Affordable 4th generation GPU's won't be available for a few years. I imagine they will launch with the 4080 or 4090 soon, but the excitement is driving prices down. 3080's are below msrp.

The top GPUs just fell below MSRP ***8212; should you buy now?

Finding the right time to buy a graphics card is always a difficult decision. Supply and demand fluctuate constantly, especially with an ongoing global chip shortage and the volatility of crypto mining.

But there may never be a better time to buy the latest GPU from AMD or Nvidia ***8212;even with new cards on the horizon.

Graphics cards: Prices are falling
The prices for graphics cards have been falling for a while now. Tom***8217;s Guide started reporting on price reductions as early as March of this year, and these price reductions continued into April and May. The price drops stem from a combination of factors, but the end result is consumers are now finally getting a better price and more availability.

According to our colleagues over at Tom***8217;s Hardware(opens in new tab), this drop in price is not a phenomenon unique to just one GPU. They looked at 22 of the top GPUs available from AMD and Nvidia, and as of June 15, only the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 12GB saw an increase in price since June 1. The median price change among all 22 SKUs was a price reduction of 1% over that 15-day period.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti

What is even more interesting though, is that several of these GPUs are now selling for below their MSRP ***8212; specifically the highest-end ones. There are three Nvidia GPUs and two AMD GPUs in the Tom***8217;s Hardware list of 22 that are supposed to cost $1,000 or more. Currently, all five are available for less than their MSRP.

GPUs made by third-party manufacturers are also decreasing for these higher-end GPUs. Best Buy(opens in new tab) currently has a Gigabyte-built Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti selling for $1,099.99, a whopping $450 price reduction from Best Buy***8217;s listed retail price.

Graphics cards: Are new chips incoming?
Next generation GPUs are definitely coming, but they may be arriving sooner rather than later. Back in May, we reported that you might want to wait before upgrading your graphics card, as rumors started to flow regarding new AMD and Nvidia GPUs.

This next generation of chips could be a game changer. The Nvidia Lovelace next-generation GPUs are rumored to double the performance of the current flagship GeForce RTx 3090 Ti. AMD***8217;s new GPUs are rumored to be even more powerful, with a massive upgrade in performance that could produce more than 90 teraflops of FP32 performance.

If the rumors prove true, these are significant upgrades. Again, at this point, they're just rumors.

Graphics cards: Should I get one now?
Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti

Ultimately, the decision to get or not get a new GPU depends on what type of user you are. Do you need to have the latest and greatest technology? Well, then you may want to hold off, especially with the next-generation GPUs rumored to arrive toward the end of 2022.

But if you are okay with being a step behind while still having great technology, then the time to buy might be now. While there is not a ton of relative value in buying a lower-end GPU, the high-end GPUs from the current generation have never been cheaper.

These top-of-the-line GPUs from AMD and Nvidia will allow users to do almost anything they could need right now, and will likely provide decent future-proofing against future updates. This is why people in the industry such as Corsair CEO Andy Paul(opens in new tab) expect a surge in consumers building their own gaming PCs in the coming months.

the only thing i like about getting i5's is they have the same footprint as an i7 so you can get a cheap one then upgrade the processor down the road

So you should be able to do it in about 1 hour. Parts lists and prices should already be on a work database.

I would even build it during work time and get paid for doing it, who is going to know? May as well steal some free RAM while u are at it.

Easy as ****.

we don't build gaming PC's here, so no, we don't keep a list of useful gaming pc parts. The ram we have (and i have tons of it) is DDR4 8 gb strips. not really worth stealing

Now if i need parts lists for a UCS or thin client..im good to go.
