It really is fun; no matter what level you're at. And the best I've found at keeping me in decent shape.
I'm not sure about hearing anything about Tasmania... It's prolly the new frontier; for sure NEEDSESSENTIAL gear

Is surfing drunk fun? I learned to surf just straight and loved it more than anything I've ever done. As you're on you're way out, I was hoping you could give a review.

This isn't a diss, I really can't imagine a better way to go out, surfing, Jimmy Buffet and Ziggy Marley in the background, cupping that hand on the curl.

I went wave pooling again yesterday morning, did pretty well. Gloves made a huge difference, no more frozen claw hands!

Went out this morning to an ocean reef - Point Break style, so I'm getting the Keanu thing on

Was only small, 2-3 ft but was across thigh to knee deep reef the entire way, so was pretty scary. Actually warmer than the wave pool. I did well, got the new board christened and got up on the first wave I went for, so I'm pretty stoked about that

Still no paddle strength though, by the time I get out there I'm near dead, jelly arms, and I then really struggle to get in position and get moving.

Still caught a dozen nice ones and got to practise my backhand, which appears stronger than my fore.

good times

Don't know what's waiting for you on the bottom other than rock
but that's enough

I grew up at beach breaks, so sand under me most my life
Now that I'm on a rock point break
with sea urchins (ouch)
I work really hard to land flat (never dive) and jump back into the white water
My big board rail hit my upper thigh in a tumble, along with the sea urchins I was out today.. great waves :/ But I'm healed for tomorrow.
I fight the injuries
but i'm out there as long as i can get on a boogie board

Always glad about having the booties on.

The wave pool has been a big benefit in overcoming the fear of the shallows, it isn't very deep and you always have to land like a starfish to avoid hitting the bottom. Came in very handy today over the reef.

I have also always lived near and grown up on beach breaks. I never ventured near the rocks, although I've had a lot of face plants into sand bars and shorebreak and that isn't exactly soft either!

The problem is most of the best waves are around the reef at the moment. The beach gets very unpredictable as well, so in a weird way, the reef is better for learning.

I also learned that my 'grippy' soft top is not very grippy at all, waxed it up good n proper this afternoon. All set for next weekend!

I like how you use your hands for aerodynamic purposes

left hand cuts the air in front of you and the right hand is your rudder

Here is a pic at low tide (not mine)

The take off point is in the channel next to the big rock on the right, wave is a right hander so you go over the rock shelf.

I'll send it when I'm good and ready. The extra grip coating is my own special blend and not semen.

I have a project thread that I'm dedicating to Plasmatic.
No it doesn't involve rust,,, so it's not about the bus. It's something I can do fairly well if I have the right tools.
There will be pics!

Congratulations Sev

That is a beautiful looking board

don't stand on the leg rope lug - that would hurt, although at 7' 5" your feet shouldn't be too near it

I might get one of his boards when I go visit him at Christmas!

all your fault dude

My frustration needs to be your frustration
So, last night I get the email that the board is with
Alaska Air Cargo
the email also adds, all of a sudden
'they said you'll need a customs broker'
k,,, my surfer friend is a lawyerrr....
so I brought him along to the airport to grab my board today
AND NO, NO sev NO NO NO NO sev
You must go get someone to fill out paperwork and pay more money
then you may claim your board...
and that, after running around all day long today
is what I learned
too late
YOU SHALL NOT PASS
monday they tell me monday
i've heard that before

this is as close as any of us has gotten to this holy grail
even the Pope
doesn't know this board

and it sits.. 11 miles away
probably with a bunch of heavy **** piled on top of it

i am trying to give up
it is the only way to survive the weekend
my brother-in-law and friends are coming over for poker tonight
they're going to clean my clock
the only way to win is to forget and give up
it's the way my god works

Spoiler
