the whole point of air superiority is that you maintain superiority. As soon as you lose air superiority, you lose all advantages in all other aspects of field warfare.

Most of the world was a pretty cool place in 1991 u know, now look at it.
well, the precursor to ISIS (Al Quaida) is what rose up but I agree with your point. Hindsight being 20/20, we should not had invaded but he was a totalitarian despot who had absolutely used WMDs against the Iranians and his own people and there was a concern he would provide those WMDs to terrorists. AQIZ (Al Quaida in Iraq) was actually transitioning into a political party as we pulled out. ISIS formed in Syria and has been partially attributed to Obama's policies and their support for anti-Assad forces. ISIS' ability to take land in Iraq (Tal Afar and Mosul, then down the river) is because the new Iraqi army was not fully trained when we left (which is what we were doing when we left - training them).

I agree that had we not invaded none of this would be happening, but we don't know what else might have happened.

we gave him those WMDs and the Iraqi's are essentially untrainable. We've been training them since 2003 and they still suck.

training our mentally retarded for a collegiate math competition is an easier task than getting anything productive done in Afghanistan and Iraq

So Russia with a GDP slightly larger than Belgium's was America's #1 'threat' for many years ().

Now America's #1 threat is North Korea. Why is the military letting Kim Jong-in and that goddam regime grow in strength? Isn't it time to burn up some knuckleheads and make regime change in NK? Couldn't the multi trillion dollar military, mostly sitting on their asses and doing nothing, actually do something?
