i wish shows like seinfeld aired without the laughter track.

why?

i think a laughter track detracts from the punch line of the jokes. it's kinda distracting and a little cheesy. i'm happy newer comedies moved away from it.
curb, always sunny, party down, south park, etc. i know i'd enjoy these shows less if they had a laughter track included.

Well yea you're comparing multicam sitcoms to single cam comedies.

so i am. i never knew those terms before. it's possible to do a multi-cam show without a laughter track though, right?

i think Married with Children was one of the greatest sitcoms ever.
it's sad what Ed O'Neill has become, though.

Yea, but they're usually studio shows with a live audience. It is weird though that they require laugh tracks.

Southpark did an episode with a laugh track. It was disturbing.

You do seem like a sour ****.
Not surprised you hate laughter.
You seem a bit self loathing.
You OK?

Kenny Dies? - There was a fake laugh track during an abortion scene. They also used the sound from a vacuum cleaner in the hall. Love that show. It was an awkward moment the first time I saw it.

Friends is a decent show to binge with the lady. There are a LOT worse options.
But I'd never watch it alone.

i love laughter, but not laughter tracks. to be honest i'm surprised people prefer laughter tracks. i'd be interested to see what the split is, maybe one of you boomers can make a poll about it.

I am able to ignore them. But, then again - they were in so many shows.
There was a story. Might have been a Stephen King story. It was about a haunted laugh track where the long dead people in it came to life and started killing people.

i don't think a laugh track can necessarily ruin a good joke per se, i never felt like oh seinfeld would be so much better if they cut the laughs. the point is just to insert a beat which non-laugh shows still do using reaction shots or waving to the camera in office. but no one likes laugh tracks this is obvious it's just a historical artifact from a different period of tv recording when it was more related to theater.
laugh tracks sometimes have inexplicably long beats tho, like if you go to youtube and type big bang nolaugh.
but seinfeld wasn't that bad about it. presumably having the most successful comedian stand up comic of all time on set probably helped the timing.

Friends was a very popular show. Ive seen every episode. Friends was far from a great show. Without even much thought i imagine i could list 20 better sitcoms. I imagine friends would be near 30

So you watched 240 episodes just to be sure it was meh?
Ok then. Confirmed boring **** as well as humourless whiny ****.
