Yea, who would have thought that held before trial means the State no longer has to give a **** about you.

The constitution - important at times, not so important (or in this case) apparently completely irrelevant when it's inconvenient.

I didn't read article, so they ship people being held before trial across country now?

actually, here is what we do. Feds run an interstate bus transport program. The bus stays on the interstate highways. Jails that want to transfer a prisoner coordinate with the federal program to arrange a pickup/dropoff time at a designated rest stop. The jail vans shouldn't have to travel more than an hour or two, and the buses don't need to go out of their way to visit jails.
