Is that the original engine? The automatic kind of hurts I almost bought 1 with the 327/300hp years ago.

I wish I would have never got rid of my 71 Tbird and yes I know a 71 is not a "classic" but it was a very sweet ride. Last year with suicide doors 429 ThunderJet with a 2.70 rear end talk about top speed

Nice find. It looks to be mostly intact. Good luck with the restoration.

At least you're not dealing with something like this.

This is where you need the TV show "Overhauling" to come in do it for you. Most of the people on that show had good intentions to fix up a car, but never got around to doing it.

At least the engine is good, but there's gong to be rust underneath the panels. On that show, they basically tear the car down to nothing, grind out the rust, prime, paint, put it all back together.

Out of curiosity, what sort of $ are we talking, by the end of the project?

I (like many people, I'm sure) love some of the old muscle cars, and would love to pick one up and restore it... but not knowing a ****load about cars, it sounds to me like a potential money pit if you're not smart about it

I had two 68 Chevelles, both green with black vinyl tops.

Ended up having to sell both of them.

Oh what they would be worth now. $$

next few days will just be grinding rust off the floor, spray some rust-oleum, and then lay the carpet

Be sure you "poke" pretty hard all over the floor pan, a tiny spot of rust will spread fairly quickly.
