I don't know.. hell we have been at war most of our existence. Probably be hard to find someone who has lived here long enough who hasn't had a relative die in war during their lifetimes.
Cuba crisis was solved before my time but I hear people were pretty freaking scared.
And we have a news media that has done a fine job of bringing war right into our living rooms.
I am not discounting your experience though just saying we might understand a little.
